JAKARTA - MNC Peduli cooperates with Habitat for Humanity to build livable houses in four cities, Surabaya, Yogyakarta, Jakarta, and Batam simultaneously. The construction and painting of the houses is a 28uild (read: to build) program.

The program is also to commemorate Hari Sumpah Pemuda on October 28. Head of MNC Peduli, Jessica Tanoesoedibjo, said that MNC Peduli always supports all positive activities.

“In our opinion, there is still much we can do through partnerships and we are collaborating with Habitat for Humanity to support this 28uild program which is carried out in 4 cities simultaneously; Jakarta, Yogyakarta, Surabaya, and Batam," said Head of MNC Peduli Jessica Tanoesoedibjo.

The National Director of Habitat for Humanity Indonesia, Susanto Samsudin, is proud of the young volunteers and various parties who support the Habitat for Humanity Indonesia's mission by renovating a livable house.

“Habitat Indonesia through the 28uild program wants to encourage young people to build the nation, whatever their forms of work and of course through this activity we reaffirm the importance of being a nation, the Indonesian,” he said.

This time, 28uild involved more than 250 volunteers in Mauk-Tangerang, 92 volunteers in Gresik-Surabaya, 86 volunteers in Selopamioro-Yogyakarta, and 42 volunteers in Batam. The young Habitat volunteers come from various backgrounds such as high school students, university students, artists, entrepreneurs, and employees doing the construction of livable houses with the first steps of making foundation and painting.

The painting in Mauk Tangerang was done to create a vibrant village. The hope is to make the living environment tidier and brighter, so that will support the people to keep it clean and not slum anymore.

The Chief of Margamulya Village, Abu Bakar, expressed his appreciation to the young volunteers who were directly involved in the construction of livable houses. He hopes the development could improve the welfare of low-income families in Margamulya Village, Mauk District, Tangerang.

“I am very grateful and thankful to the young volunteers who went directly to Mauk to build the houses. I hope activities like this would be increasingly initiated, including empowerment activities from young volunteers to residents in Margamulya,” Abu Bakar said.

In opening the 28uild event in Mauk, Habitat for Humanity Indonesia also introduced Habitat Icon, who had just joined, Gilang Bhaskara and Han Chandra. Habitat for Humanity Indonesia also introduced the Habitat Icon, which is constructing livable houses in Surabaya, Wa Ode Amelia Nadine.

Habitat hopes that more inspiring young people would dare to be involved in developing Indonesia. The activity that was initiated in 2012 has involved more than 3500 young volunteers and various public figures such as Daniel Mananta as Goodwill Ambassador of Habitat for Humanity Indonesia, as well as other Habitat Icons such as Olivia Jensen, Josh Kunze, Whulandary Herman, Kelly Tandiono, and Indra Bekti.
