BEKASI - MNC Peduli held a socialization of stunting in the Desa Binaan of MNC Peduli at Pantaibakti Village, Muara Gembong, Bekasi, West Java. This activity was carried out in  Posyandu and the fishing village attended by pregnant women and women with toddlers.

The socialization is about nutrition needed from the time the child was still in the womb until the first 1000 days of life, also the types of food that must be consumed and should be avoided by pregnant women and toddlers.

Moreover, stunting is an endless problem for Indonesia. Even though the stunting rate in Indonesia has decreased in 2019, it still cannot meet World Health Organization (WHO) standards that the stunting rate should not be more than 20 percent.

Stunting is caused by the lack of good nutrition from the mother's womb until the first 1000 days of life. The reasons are lack of nutritional intake, lack of exclusive breastfeeding, missed baby immunizations and inadequate environmental conditions.

MNC Peduli Chairman III, Jessica Tanoesoedibjo revealed that the stunting socialization is so important because it found that as many as 251 children in the village were stunting.

" We come there to provide health socialization so they will understand that the first 1000 days are a most important time for children to be given adequate nutrition," said Jessica, Thursday (3/19/2020).

children Malnutrition,  she said, not only has an impact on children's health but if not immediately addressed, this will affect the problem of Indonesian in the future. With the lack of nutritional since childhood, it will reduce the quality of Indonesian human resources.

"I hoped that in the future children in the village of Pantai Bakti will no longer be stunted. The parents also know the importance of providing nutrition to their children. Moreover, many of them got married young," she said.

Because of that, most of them do not understand the importance of giving nutrition to pregnant women and newborns. We educate them so they can carefully take care of their children, she explained.

Meanwhile, a housewife, Nia said, the activity carried out by MNC Peduli was very good for her village, which is far from urban areas.

"It is very good and very helpful especially for Pantaibakti Village which is far from the city because we have a little knowledge about stunting," said Nia who participated in the socialization of MNC Peduli activities.
