KORAN SINDO Achieved Gold Winner Asian Media Awards 2015

BANGKOK - KORAN SINDO achieved Gold Winner News Photography at the prestigious Asian Media Awards 2015 held at the Centara Grand, Central World, Bangkok Convention Center, Bangkok, Thailand, on Wednesday (04/29/2015).

The judges awarded photographs by Yorri Farli titled “Tertimbun Reruntuhan” published in KORAN SINDO 1 November 2014 as the best news photo of print media category. Asian Media Awards 2015 is an annual Asia Pasific media event which held by World Association of Newspaper and News Publisher (WAN-IFRA).

Gold Winner trophy was given by Group Managing Editor of The News Straits Times Press Abdul Jalil Hamid and Managing Director of WAN-IFRA South Asia Magdoom Mohamed to the Editor in Chief of KORAN SINDO, Pung Purwanto.

Prime Minister of Thailand Prayut Chan-o-cha at the opening speech said that media is important in determining the nation's journey.

"This event is very important because media is my partner in work," said him. Even though, the silver and bronze award of news photo category was achieved by Apple Daily news from Taiwan.

Meanwhile, the Chief Editor of KORAN SINDO Pung Purwanto said Gold Winner achievement is very surprising because it was the first time for KORAN SINDO joining its event.

"We should be grateful for this wonderful award. It is a collection of the best works of the media personnel from nearly 120 countries," said Pung after receiving the trophy.
