• Two Indonesian Students Have Won BBC Future Journalist Award 2015

    JAKARTA - Two Indonesian students, Jennifer Sidhartha from Multimedia Nusantara University and Naomi Indartiningrum from Prasetya Mulya Business School of Economics have won the opportunity to learn journalism to BBC London, England. Both are winners of BBC Future Journalist Award which is the cooperation between PT MNC Sky Vision Tbk with BBC Global News Ltd.

    They were chosen after undergoing a series of workshops, interviews, and assessment together with 18 other candidates on 10 to 11 October 2015 in Wisma Indovision, Jakarta.

    "This event is collaboration of Indovision and BBC World News as a form of concern to the coaching talent in our country, especially in the field of journalism. In addition, we also provide an opportunity for students to develop a career in a professional manner and obtain reliable and quality journalist," said Deputy CEO of PT MNC Sky Vision Tbk, Yudha Wibawa.

    Yudha added, BBC as one of the major news media agency and reliable in the world has such programs in several countries. However, he added, this is the first time in Indonesia.

    "We have the same vision, a channel leading to the mother and child, so our main focus is education. In the future, if this program gets a positive response, we can continue with more number of participants," he said.

    Jennifer as the winner is happy and will take advantage of this rare opportunity. "I'll learn there because BBC is the center of a large news media," she said.

    Naomi, the other winner said that she did not expect to go to London for studying how to become a journalist at BBC. "I do not believe it and I'm going to learn well although my department in college is not in the field of journalism," she explained.

    Previously there were about 100 participants registered in the period from August 6 through September 18, 2015. The participants came from five major cities in Indonesia, namely Jakarta, Bandung, Semarang, Yogyakarta and Makassar. Two of 20 selected participants were chosen to visit the headquarters of the BBC in London for six days.
