MNCTV won third place with a work entitled ‘Yuk Intip Germas di Puskesmas Kali Deres’. This event was the second to be held by the Ministry of Health in a mass media competition with the theme ‘Upaya Pengendalian Penyakit Tidak Menular (PTM)’ (efforts to control non-communicable disease (NCD)) using the healthy living community (Germas – Gerakan Masyarakat Hidup Sehat) approach.
The event was attended by the Minister of Health (Menkes) Nila Moeloek. On this occasion, she considered the mass media has great power in people's lives. In today's digital era, the power of social media is becoming increasingly prominent.
According to research conducted by Asosiasi Penyelenggara Jasa Internet Indonesia 2017, the services that are most accessed by the internet are chat (89.35%) and social media (87.13%).
“Unfortunately, most hoaxes are health issues. Therefore, the existence of competitions and activities involving netizens is expected to provide a proper understanding of health,” said Nila, at Gedung Kemenkes (the Ministry of Health's building) Jakarta, on Wednesday (8/21/2019).
The Secretary-General of the Ministry of Health, Oscar Primadi, hopes that from the implementation of this event, the people would get wider information and improve a healthy lifestyle.
According to him, the competition was held openly and was judged by an independent jury apart from the program owner. “The hope is that the more extensive information obtained by the people and they will improve their healthy lifestyle,” Oscar said.
In addition, the Ministry of Health also held a photo and video contest to give a positive perception of the planned health development program. He invited the people to upload photos of a healthy lifestyle besides traveling and culinary photos that were most often uploaded and shared through photos.
He added, improving the quality of public services is one of the priority agenda of the Ministry of Health. Public service innovation for Unit Pelaksana Teknis (the Technical Implementation Unit) within the Ministry of Health is very important to maximize the function of ASN in providing services to the public.
“The task of Aparatur Sipil Negara (ASN) is to run public services. Innovation is needed in improving service quality,” he said.
The Head of Biro Komunikasi dan Pelayanan Masyarakat Kemenkes, Widyawati, said that the condition of Indonesian people's interest in reading was quite low. Based on the Most Littered Nation in the World study conducted by Central Connecticut State University in March 2016, Indonesia was declared to be ranked 60th out of 61 countries about reading interest.
Indonesia is under Thailand (59) and above Bostwana (61). In fact, in terms of infrastructure assessment to support reading, Indonesia's ranking is above European countries.
According to her, this condition is a challenge for library managers, especially libraries under the work units of the Ministry of Health, UPT, and Poltekkes of the Ministry of Health. Besides completing facilities and books, the Ministry of Health also makes serious efforts and innovated to increase reading interest and library visits.
“It is quite encouraging because the participants of this year's competition have increased more than last year and many came from regions. In this competition, there was 997 participants of the photo contest and collected 2,477 photos, 94 videos, 41 writings in print media, 15 radio recordings, 13 TV recordings, 68 periodical publications, 38 librarians, and 40 Satuan Kerja (Satker) (Work Units) PPID,” she said.
